FUNCTIONS
In this unit, we analyze the "Functions of the language " Basically, what the language is used for. In th unit I learned what is Context, Exponent and Function.Every day we use the language for a certaint purpose for example: advising, apoloizing, making request, etc. Some chunks that we used constantly are helpful in order to know some English. If I say: "Excuse me" is a chunk and then it has its own function that is apologizing. When we want to decline or refue an invitation we say: "I'm sorry but..." Therefore, the language has many different functions and sometimes we have to deduce the meaning according to the context we face.We as future teachers, it is important to know the different functions of the language in order to establish a dialogue between two or more people. Of course at first, students can have some developmental errors when producing the language and then it is teacher's work to provide possitive feedback and correct the mistakes. In addition,it is important to develop an independet study in students so that they can have a better participation in the classroom.
